Shahbaz government’s big decision, Lieutenant General Aseem Munir will be the new army chief of Pakistan
Pakistan’s long-standing search for a new army chief is over. Pakistan’s Shahbaz Sharif government has appointed General Asim Munir as the new army chief of Pakistan. Munir will replace General Qamar Javed Wajwa. Apart from this, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been appointed as Joint Chief of Staff. Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has given this information. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday began the process of appointing a new army chief by writing to the country’s defense ministry for possible candidates.
PM Shahbaz has given his consent to make Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza the new CJCSC. Speculations were being made about the new Army Chief of Pakistan for a long time. In which the names of 6 senior army commanders were coming out. Now the PM has put his seal on Lt. General Aseem Munir.

Lieutenant General Asim Munir General was also the head of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. He was the Director General of ISI from 25 October 2018 to 16 June 2019. He is a three star rank general. Presently he is working as Quarter Master General in Pakistan Army.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa is retiring next week on 29 November. Gen Bajwa (61) was appointed Army Chief in 2016 for three years. In the year 2019, he was given an extension of three years.
