Russia has been declared a state sponsor of terrorism by the European Parliament

The European Parliament (EU) has declared Russia a state sponsor of terrorism. This news is coming out from the allegations of journalists of international media. The EU argued that Moscow’s military offensive violated international law by targeting civilian targets such as energy infrastructure, hospitals, schools and shelters.

The European Union has called the attack on Ukraine a cruel and inhuman act. Members of the European Parliament said that Russia deliberately attacked and tortured the civilian population of Ukraine. Members said Moscow equated acts of war crimes against civilian infrastructure, human rights violations and international humanitarian law to acts of terrorism. During the monthly plenary session in Strasbourg, France, 494 votes were cast in favor of the resolution presented on Wednesday while 58 members voted against it. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed the decision by tweeting. He tweeted that I welcome the European Parliament’s decision to designate Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. Russia must be isolated at all levels and held responsible for terrorism in Ukraine and around the world.

offer is not binding

A resolution passed by the European Parliament is not legally binding. According to sources, this step of the European Parliament is largely symbolic. Because the EU has no legal framework to support it. Piram’s country has already imposed tough sanctions on Russia. Ukrainian President Zelensky also urged the US and other countries to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.
