India has invited Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meetings this year. Presently it is being chaired by India. Many meetings are going to be held in India this year. The SCO Chief Justice meeting will be held in March this year, while the Foreign Ministers meeting is to be held in Goa in May. Other member countries including the Foreign Minister of China have also been invited.

Sources say that although CJP Bandyal and Bilawal Bhutto have not yet responded to India’s invitation. Now it has to be seen whether Pakistan attends the SCO meeting or not, as tensions remain between the two countries.

SCO is a major regional forum consisting of Pakistan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India. It primarily focuses on the areas of trade, finance, commerce and socio-economic cooperation among SCO member states.

If both the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Foreign Minister visit India, it will be considered significant and will be the first high-profile visit from Pakistan in recent years. India will also host the SCO summit in June and Pakistan is almost certain to be invited.

Pakistan will not participate in SCO film festival

Prior to this, India will host the SCO Film Festival in Mumbai from January 27 to 31, in which all its member countries except Pakistan will participate. It is noteworthy that Pakistan has not yet sent its entry. SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi will be screened at the SCO Film Festival. Many other old films will also be screened.
