Wellington, 25 January (Hindustan Times). Chris Hipkins was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of New Zealand on Wednesday. He has replaced Jacinda Ardern who resigned in the past. Along with him, Carmel Sepuloni has been given the responsibility of Deputy Prime Minister of the country.

Jacinda Ardern, who was the Prime Minister of New Zealand, surprised the world recently by announcing that she would quit the post of Prime Minister. She had said that she was not able to do justice to the post of Prime Minister. Chris Hipkins was elected the new Prime Minister of the country in place of Jesinda. The process of transfer of power was also completed on Wednesday.

Jacinda Ardern reached Parliament for the last time as Prime Minister on Wednesday morning and announced her resignation from her post. After his resignation, Chris Hipkins was formally elected Prime Minister of New Zealand.

After being elected Prime Minister, Chris Hipkins was sworn in as the country’s 41st Prime Minister. With him Carmelo Sepuloni was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister. After taking office, Hipkins has made tackling rising inflation a priority. Hipkins was first elected to the Parliament of New Zealand in 2008. During the Corona period in the year 2020, he was entrusted with the responsibility of dealing with Corona as a minister.
