The Ministry of Railways has announced that the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will revolutionize long-distance travel in India. This cutting-edge train is set to be a major addition to the country’s rapidly modernizing railway fleet.

On January 15, the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train successfully completed testing on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, covering 540 km under the supervision of the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). The trial was conducted with 16 coaches, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward full-scale deployment.

Final Safety Certification Underway

The Railway Ministry stated that before the train begins commercial operations, the RDSO will analyze the test results and issue a final certificate. Additionally, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will conduct speed trials at the train’s maximum operational speed to ensure passenger safety and efficiency.

Launch Timeline and Production Plans

 December 2024 – Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will roll out the first official set of Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains.
 January 2024 – The train successfully completed short-distance trials of 30-40 km in Kota, achieving a speed of 180 kmph.
 April-December 2024 – Nine more Vande Bharat Sleeper train sets are expected to be manufactured.
 2026-27 – Full-scale production of 24-coach sleeper trains will commence, strengthening India’s self-reliance in railway technology.

Enhanced Passenger Experience & Luxury Amenities

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train promises a comfortable, high-speed, and luxurious travel experience. It will feature three sleeper classes:

 AC First Class
 AC 2-Tier
 AC 3-Tier

With a total capacity of 1,128 passengers, the train is expected to offer state-of-the-art amenities, ensuring better comfort and convenience for overnight travelers.
