People often try different tricks to avoid traffic challans, but these tactics will no longer work. Traffic rules are set to become stricter in 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh. To enhance road safety and manage traffic efficiently, authorities will monitor vehicles using advanced surveillance systems. While this system was already implemented in major cities, it will now be extended to smaller cities as well.

ITMS to Be Implemented in These 15 Districts

The Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) will soon be introduced in the following districts:

  • Hardoi
  • Banda
  • Basti
  • Gonda
  • Siddharthnagar
  • Rae Bareli
  • Sitapur
  • Barabanki
  • Pratapgarh
  • Ghaziabad
  • Sultanpur
  • Kanpur Dehat
  • Unnao
  • Etah

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed in 2021 that ITMS should be established in 57 cities and all municipal corporations to strengthen traffic regulation.

ITMS Already Functional in 17 Districts

Currently, 17 districts in Uttar Pradesh already have ITMS in place. The system was first introduced in:

  • Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Varanasi, and Agra
    It was later extended to:
  • Gorakhpur, Meerut, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Aligarh, Firozabad, Mathura, and Ayodhya

Upcoming Traffic Changes with ITMS

The introduction of ITMS will bring significant improvements in traffic regulation, including:

  • Automated Traffic Signals: Major intersections will have an automated signal system.
  • E-Challan System: CCTV cameras will trace vehicle number plates, and e-challans will be sent directly to the registered vehicle owner's address.
  • Traffic Congestion Control: ITMS will help in rerouting vehicles during traffic jams caused by protests or other disruptions.
  • Medical Emergency Support: In medical emergencies, an automatic sound system will help create a green corridor for ambulances and emergency vehicles.

The expansion of ITMS aims to improve traffic management, reduce accidents, and ensure stricter enforcement of road safety laws across Uttar Pradesh.
