During Tuesday President Donald Trump will end America's involvement with United Nations Human Rights Council and sustain the interruption of funds for United Nations Palestinian relief agency UNRWA based on a White House official statement on Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits Washington while launching his attacks against UNRWA through accusations about anti-Israel incitement and his claim that UNRWA personnel engage in terrorist acts targeting Israel.

The United Nations along with its Palestinian relief agency UNRWA failed to respond to interview requests when asked for commentary.

Trump ceased funding for UNRWA during his initial four years as president by asking Palestinians to start peace talks with Israel while demanding reforms that remained undefined.

During the first term of the Trump administration the United States left the 47-member Human Rights Council after complaining about persistent anti-Israel bias and insufficient reform attempts. The United States does not participate in activities of the Geneva-based body at present. The United States received its reelection as a member of the United Nations under Democratic leader Joe Biden for the terms 2022-2024.

A Human Rights Council work group will assess the U.S. human rights performance in August as part of an evaluative process that each nation participates in every few years. The council lacks any formal authority yet the discussion that occurs becomes crucial because it generates worldwide diplomatic pressure on nations to take corrective action.

As he advanced to his second term on January 20 Trump activated withdrawals of the U.S. from the World Health Organization and the Paris climate agreement and he previously initiated these steps during his initial administration period.

ISRAEL VS UNRWA

On Monday Danny Danon praised Trump's forthcoming actions by calling Human Rights Council "extreme anti-Semites who aggressively promote their anti-Jewish beliefs."

The organization UNRWA has evolved from an independent humanitarian body to a terrorist controlling entity for Hamas which pretends to function as a humanitarian agency according to Danon.

Last week UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini denounced an intense misinformation campaign that tried to present his agency as a terrorist group.

Before suspending donations in January 2024 Israel accused about twelve UNRWA staff members of participating in Hamilton militant operations during the October 7 2023 terrorism incident resulting in the Gaza war.

Funding to UNRWA was suspended by the U.S. Congress until March 2025. As part of its mandate UNRWA supports millions of Palestinians through aid services and operates health as well as educational systems in Gaza, West Bank areas with East Jerusalem, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

The United Nations confirmed nine members of staff engaged in the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack before dismissing them from their positions. The Israeli military learned that the deceased Hamas leader who engaged in operations against Israel also worked for UNRWA before his death in September. The United Nations continued making investigations about all allegations it received but Israel has failed to produce any supporting evidence.

The Israeli government enforced a January 30th order which stopped UNRWA from working inside Israel along with blocking communication channels between Israeli and UNRWA officials. The director of UNRWA announced that operations in both Gaza and the West Bank region would experience consequences because of the decision.
