Rohit praised Tilak Verma, said- he is going to be an all-format player for India very soon
Mumbai, May 13 (H.S.). Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma praised batsman Tilak Verma’s unbeaten knock, which helped his team register a win against Chennai Super Kings.
A crucial partnership between Tilak Verma and Hrithik Shokeen and Tim David’s 16 not out helped Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium here on Thursday. Daniel Sams bowled excellently in the match, taking three wickets for 16 runs in his four overs.
After the match, Rohit Sharma said, “The pitch was bowler friendly and initially there were some tense moments in the middle due to the fall of wickets. It was just about staying calm and getting things done. After losing those wickets in the beginning, we calmed down a bit and finally got the job done. We have played a lot of cricket here. We have seen pitches like this on several occasions. Sometimes it’s good to bring bowlers into the game. These are batting friendly pitches on all sides, it was good to see bounce and swing from both sides.
He said, “Tilak Verma has been brilliant, playing the first year, having such a calm mind is never easy. I think he is going to be an all-format player for India very soon. He also has technique and an appetite for runs. A lot of things are looking bright for him.”
Praising Bumrah, Rohit said, “Bumrah knows what he needs to do and what the team expects him to do which are the most important things. He already understands a great spell and we saw what he did in the last game as well.”
Let us inform that in this match, the team of CSK, batting first, was reduced to 97 runs in 16 overs. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored an unbeaten 36 for CSK. Daniel Sams got 3 wickets for Mumbai, Meredith and Karthikeya got 2-2 and Bumrah and Ramandeep Singh got one wicket each.
