New Delhi: Today 74th Republic Day is being celebrated in India. The Government of India announced on the eve of Republic Day that 106 people will be honored with Padma Awards for their distinguished work in their fields. These include former cricketers and experienced cricket coaches. President Draupadi Murmu approved these names on Wednesday. The awards will be distributed in March and April at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
On the eve of the 74th Republic Day, the Government of India announced that SRD Prasad, Santhobi Sharma and Gurcharan Singh would be honored with the Padma Shri awards. Sportspersons like Kalaripayattu master SRD Prasad, Santoiba Sharma of Thang Ta Guru, former cricketer and veteran cricket coach Gurcharan Singh will be honored with Padma Shri for their distinguished services in the field of sports. The President of India on Wednesday approved 106 Padma Awards, of which three were given to sportspersons.
The award will be given at Rashtrapati Bhavan
These awards are given in various disciplines and fields of activity such as arts, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service. ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service.
