The Indian wrestling world is currently in discussion. A few days ago, the country’s veteran wrestlers opened a front against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for three days. These wrestlers included Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya and Vinesh Phogat. All of them wrote to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) complaining that Bhushan had sexually assaulted female athletes.

All of them met Sports Minister Anurag Thakur twice and kept their point. After all this, on Monday, the Sports Minister constituted a five-member committee to investigate the matter. But even now the displeasure of these players has not gone away, rather their complaints have increased. Anurag Thakur constituted a five-member committee headed by Olympic medalist PT Usha, woman boxer Mary Kom.

The Sports Ministry has tasked these people to look into all the allegations against Bhushan and look after the day-to-day functioning of the WFI for the next one month. After the formation of this committee, it was expected that the protesting players would be happy but they have become angry.

Why are wrestlers angry?
From Sakshi to Bajrang and Vinesh, in a single tweet on Tuesday, they said that they are not happy with the formation of this committee. All of them tweeted that we were assured that we would be consulted before the formation of the committee. It is very sad that we were not even consulted before the formation of this committee. It is clear from this tweet that the biggest complaint of these players is that why they were not consulted before the formation of the committee.

The ruckus of wrestling has now reached the court
The ruckus of wrestling has now reached the court. A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the wrestlers who were on strike on behalf of an aide of Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The petition has also challenged the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against Brij Bhushan Singh by the wrestlers. However, Brij Bhushan has given a statement regarding the application in the court.

What is stated in the application?
An associate of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has filed this petition in the Delhi High Court. It is alleged that the wrestlers completely misused the sexual harassment laws making a travesty of justice. If any player has been sexually harassed then he should take action as per law or court.
