During the 38th National Games opener at Dehradun Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the immediate need to fight obesity. The Prime Minister encouraged everyone from young to old to start living healthier before delivering his Fit India speech.

PM Modi’s Message on Obesity

During his speech the PM Modi revealed that India faces an increasing rate of obesity among its citizens.

The population of India faces fast-growing obesity rates that affect both young and old individuals in the country. The high percentage of obese people in our nation creates greater chances of developing diabetes and heart diseases.

The leader prompted people to follow these two key practices

Take physical exercise every day through walking running and exercising routines.                                               
cut unnecessary fats and oils from your food diet to improve health He proposed a 10% reduction in monthly oil consumption because minimal changes make a substantial difference in better health.

Rising Obesity Rates in India

Research from The Lancet (2022) indicates that 70 million Indian adults are obese per their data. This included:

26 million men                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

The research study showed a growing number of overweight children in its findings.

The prime minister received backing from medical experts and the World Health Organization            

The public supports PM Modi's message through multiple groups which include Health Experts and WHO.

The World Health Organization endorsed active living combined with healthy eating as the best approach against weight-related diseases particularly diabetes and heart problems.
Personalities and medical specialists including Akshay Kumar, Boxer Vijender Singh, Dr. Shuchin Bajaj of Ujala Cygnus Healthcare, and Gautam Khanna from PD Hinduja Hospital actively promoted the initiative.                                                                                                                       

How to Prevent Obesity

Keep these habits in place to maintain your proper weight and avoid obesity:.                             

1. Maintain a Balanced Diet                               

Stick to healthy eating by choosing fresh produce, whole grains, vegetables, and healthy proteins.
Cut back on processed and sugary eats plus reduce high-calorie drinks.                    

2. Exercise Regularly                      

Perform mild activity for 150 minutes weekly.
Your body handles weight better when you walk bike swim because these actions work positively with your metabolism.                                  

3. Get Enough Sleep                          

When sleep suffers it triggers our body to make more hunger-stimulating chemicals which causes us to eat more than we should.
To maintain good health adults need to sleep 7 to 9 hours every night.                                       

4. Control Portion Sizes                                         

Eating healthy food will lead to weight gain when you eat excessive amounts of it.
Choose smaller plates and use food providers while keeping large package contents away from the table.

5. Stay Hydrated                                                           

When you are dehydrated your body sends wrong hunger messages that make you eat more.
Consume water continuously to help your digestive system and metabolic system function well.
