The future looks promising for about 1,500 farmers in Hathras. The government has begun acquiring land for the new Agra-Aligarh Green Highway, which will pass through numerous villages in the area. Compensation for the farmers is being calculated based on the official circle rate, and payments will soon be credited directly to their accounts.

Rapid Progress on the Green Highway

Construction of the Agra-Aligarh Green Highway is moving at a fast pace. This 66 km long road will run through Hathras district for 47 km. The National Highway Authority of India is currently identifying all the lands—both government and privately owned—that lie in the highway’s path.

Upgrading to a Four-Lane Road

Once the land acquisition is complete, compensation will be paid to the affected farmers at rates above the standard circle rate. Currently, the Agra-Aligarh highway is a two-lane road with each lane 3.5 meters wide, making a total width of 7 meters. The highway will soon be expanded into a four-lane road, which is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and reduce the frequency of accidents.

Land and Village Details

In Hathras district, the highway will require approximately 258 hectares of private land and 16 hectares of government land. The route will pass through many villages, including:

  • In Hathras: Bamnai, Bichhiya, Bisarat, Darshana, Dayalpur, Dhatura Khurd, Garhai, Katharia, Kesar Garhi, and Khajuria.
  • In Korna: Chamrua, Luheta Khurd, Kalan, Magtai, Mungsa, Nagla Daya, Nagla Nandram, Patakhas, Ramgarh, Ratbhangarhi, Tuksan, and Vishnudas.
