A high-stakes drama film titled Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins comes to viewers from director Siddharth Anand together with actors Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat. Ibrahim Ali Khan the first-time actor starts in Nadaaniyan with Khushi Kapoor alongside him.
The unscripted series Dining With The Kapoors will give audiences a window into the personal lives of Bollywood royalty through the Kapoor clan members including Randhir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. The upcoming series by director Smriti Mundhra who also led Indian Matchmaking focuses on how the Kapoor family develops their love for dining and their connection with the film industry.
Netflix's first Telugu original
The streaming platform introduced two original titles: the comedic-dramatic series Super Subbu in Telugu and the Tamil cricket film Test starring Nayanthara together with R. Madhavan and Siddharth.
The company aims to redefine storytelling beyond all preceding ideas in 2025 through boundary-pushing creative methods to provide an unprecedented array of exquisitely made entertainment. The content line of Netflix India includes high-drama romcoms alongside intense thriller titles and fan-loved franchises in addition to side-splitting comedies that cater to diverse audiences according to Vice President - Content Monika Shergill.
The upcoming content release includes revived seasons from both The Great Indian Kapil Show and Delhi Crime together with the second seasons of Rana Naidu and Kohrra and a forthcoming version of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter under the cop franchise label which was previewed in February 2024.
Under its Yash Raj Films (YRF) collaboration Netflix showcased two new productions - Akka which follows gangster queens Radhika Apte and Keerthy Suresh and the crime thriller Mandala Murders that had its first announcement in February 2024.
Dharmatic Entertainment released Aap Jaisa Koi as their romantic drama film while Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter starred in The Royals romantic comedy series along with Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra uniting for Toaster's comedy film production and Emmy-winning Vir Das delivered his latest comedy special Vir Das Fool Volume to audiences.
WWE programming with Hindi commentary
In the upcoming months Netflix intends to deliver WWE programming with RAW NXT SmackDown and Premium Live Events to all its Indian subscribers who have opted for the Hindi commentary version.
WWE content became an exclusive streaming addition on Netflix because the company signed a $5 billion rights deal for ten years during January 2024. The programming runs in the United States along with Canada and also in the United Kingdom and Latin America territories.
Sony Pictures Networks India possesses the India broadcasting rights to WWE content that will end in March 2025.
India key for Netflix's future growth
Netflix recognizes India as a principal strategic market for future expansion because India's digital content market shows rising consumer demand in the world's second-biggest internet market.
The streaming platform announced during July 2024 that India ranked as the second largest market regarding new paid subscriber additions and held the third position regarding revenue growth percentage for Q2 of 2024 although it did not share specific numbers.
The "big prize" status for India qualifies as a top priority for Netflix according to co-CEO Ted Sarandos because of its extensive base of entertainment audience.
Last month Netflix announced 4.94 million Asia-Pacific area subscribers in addition to the Indian market within the fourth-quarter report. The recent release from Amazon MX Player presented more than 100 show titles that will premier throughout 2025. The platform will launch 40 new Hindi originals and provide returning seasons of its well-known TV shows.
Amazon operates two main video services along with Amazon MX Player - Prime Video and Amazon Prime both including video streaming with subscription rates. Other prominent players in the market include ZEE5, Sony LIV, and Apple TV+.
