According to a research done in Brazil, only the balance of standing on one leg can tell how long a person can live. According to a research, if people over the age of 50 cannot stand on one leg for more than 10 seconds, then their chances of dying double in the next 10 years.

Brazilian scientists spent 10 years researching it. During this, balance test of people was taken for 10 years. The researchers also wanted to understand whether this balance test needed to be included in regular health check-ups of people. This research study involved 1,700 people. He had regular health check-ups from 2009 to 2022.

1. 5% of the people between 51 to 55 years could not clear this exam.

2. 8% of people aged between 56 and 60 failed the test.

3. 18% of the people between the age of 61 to 65 years could not clear this test.

4. 37 percent of people aged 66 to 70 failed.

5. 54% of people aged 71 to 75 years could not clear this test.

Here’s How to Do a Balance Test

1. Stand on one leg for 10 seconds.

2. The right or left foot can be used.

3. Place the leg you raised behind the standing leg.

4. Keep both the hands by the side.

5. Look at a distance of 2 meters from eye level.

These people are more likely to die

In this 10-year long research study, researchers found that people who failed the balance test were more likely to die early. The gender, age and medical history of the deceased were also taken into account.
