Surat: Becharaji temple priest’s suicide just before Navratri becomes a mystery
Navratri ( Navratri) has only counting days left. Then the Mahant of Becharaji Temple has committed suicide in the Wade Road area of Qatar’s Surat. Maharaj named Shambhunath, who had been doing seva puja in the temple for the last 25 years, committed suicide in the night. There was a wave of mourning among the devotees after hearing the news of committing suicide by hanging.
He was a native of Nepal
Originally from Nepal, Shambhu Maharaj was doing Seva Puja at Shri Nana Bachraji Temple on Wade Road for the last 25 years. The Mahant committed suicide in the temple premises of Mataji before Navratri while worshiping Mataji by staying in the temple. On the information of Mahant’s death, the police convoy reached the spot and the body was sent for post-mortem. At present, the police is investigating further in the case of suicide.

A devotee named Nitaben, who regularly visits the temple, said that Maharaj Pranami was a graduate of the religion. Used to worship a lot of service, continued to serve for 25 years. Nothing strange seems to have happened. We do not know the reason behind the suicide. Maharaj’s service remained unbroken. He was a native of Nepal and was doing many service work. The reason behind his suicide is not clear. No doubt he was very honest and determined.
The people here were happy with his nature. We cannot believe that he himself has taken this step. His nature was not such that he had no activity other than service to commit suicide. He was serving continuously for the last 25 years. Police have registered a case of accidental death and started further investigation to find out the reason behind the suicide.
