Earlier on Thursday, the ED searched the office of Young India in the Herald House building. Meanwhile, the ED examined documents related to the company’s business activities, finances and operations. Earlier on Wednesday, the ED had sealed the office of Young India. Kharge was summoned by the ED in this matter and an inquiry was conducted in this regard today.
Mallikarjun Kharge said in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that he has been summoned by the ED. They want to follow the law, but is it right to call them during the Parliament session? Is it right for the police to surround the residences of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi?
Congress with Kharge: Jairam Ramesh
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted that Mallikarjun Kharge was to host a dinner for the opposition’s deputy candidate candidate at 7.30 pm today. But they are still being probed by the ED. This is the culmination of the Modi government’s political vendetta. Earlier in another tweet, he wrote that ED is questioning Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge for several hours. The entire Congress party is standing behind him.
On this, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has questioned the summons issued to Kharge. He said that it has never happened in the history of democracy that the Leader of the Opposition has been called for questioning by the ED or any other investigative agency during the proceedings of Parliament. If Kharge was to be called for questioning, he should have called before 11 am or after 5 pm.
