BJP spent 340 crores

The Bharatiya Janata Party spent Rs 340 crore on campaigning in the assembly elections in five states held earlier this year, while the Congress spent Rs 194 crore on campaigning in these five states. This information is shown in the election expenditure reports of both the parties.

According to the report submitted by the BJP to the Election Commission, the party spent over Rs 340 crore on campaigning in the assembly elections in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab earlier this year.

According to the BJP report, it spent Rs 221 crore in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Rs 23 crore in Manipur, Rs 43.67 crore in Uttarakhand, Rs 36 crore in Punjab and Rs 19 crore in Goa.

According to the report presented by the Congress, it spent Rs 194 crore on campaigning in the assembly elections of five states. Significantly, Congress and BJP have got the status of national parties.

It is noteworthy that the parties contesting Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections have to submit the election expenditure report before the Election Commission within the stipulated time frame.
