
Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar and Chief Secretary RCSK Manoj Kumar Singh came to the ground after the tragic incident of stampede in Mahakumbh 2025 on 29th January (Mauni Amvasya). The visit was strategized to check the security situation and avoid repetition of such events, especially as ‘Amrit Snan’, to be held on February 2(Basant Panchami).
Security Measures Strengthened for Basant Panchami
DIG Vaibhav Krishna reiterated his awareness to the public stating that all agencies are ready for the event referred as ‘Amrit Snan’.
Security guards have been placed at strategic positions of operation.
The gates of all the bridges have been opened since the crowd has greatly reduced in size.
It is so announced that zonal security measures are being strengthened for the purpose of free movement of devotees.
No VIP Movement Allowed
To overcome the challenge of overcrowding and to avoid marshal a large crowd:
As on the previous date January 29, VIP movement will still be controlled in Prayagraj on February 2.
The police keep vigilant ensuring that the crowds that throng the scene are controlled as they are always massive.
Mahakumbh Stampede: 30 Dead, 60 Injured
A rush occurred in the morning of January 29 that resulted into 30 people being trampled to death and more than 60 injured.
This incident took place when millions throng to come and bathe at the sangam of River Ganga and Yamuna on the occasion of the Mauni Amavasya ‘Amrit Snan’ festival.
DIG Vaibhav Krishna reveal to media that 25 victims have been faced and released to public.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said that the government would grant ex-gratia amount to the family of the victims affected by thegrenade attack and added that; another judicial inquiry has also been ordered.
In order to manage the situation, the government of the Uttar Pradesh provides the financial aid:
Each family of the victims will receive ₹25 lakh which is in tune with a global practice to compensate for loss of life.
Also, the chief minister of UP has ordered to conduct an inquiry into the matter by creating a judicial commission and making three judges investigate the matter.

All these responsibilities will be fulfilled by the newly elected committee who in turn will submit a certain report within a fixed period of time, hence enhancing crowd control measure facilitating the Basant Panchami ‘Amrit Snan’.
Thus, looking ahead, ‘Basant Panchami Amrit Snan’ will be celebrated in Basant Panchami on February 2, Next year, 2015.
In order to maintain law and order situation, Police administration is making all out efforts to regulate the crowd for observing the ‘Amrit Snan’ on the Basant Panchami.
However, at least tens of millions of people will not break the tradition to take holy bath and hence, verifying the spiritual essence of Mahakumbh 2025.
