The ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj is witnessing an overwhelming crowd of devotees. Even after the Maghi Purnima bathing festival, the influx of pilgrims continues as they flock to the Sangam for a holy dip. Since Friday morning, millions have gathered along the Sangam coast, pushing the total number of devotees at Kumbh beyond 50 crores.
20 Crore Devotees Took Holy Bath in Just 6 Days
By the 33rd day of Maha Kumbh, out of 50 crore bathers, an astonishing 20 crore devotees bathed in just six significant days, including:
- Makar Sankranti - 3.5 crore devotees
- Mauni Amavasya - 8 crore devotees
- Basant Panchami - 2.57 crore devotees
- 30 January - 2 crore devotees
- 1 February - 2 crore devotees
- Paush Purnima - 1.7 crore devotees
- Before Magh Purnima (11 February) - 1 crore devotees
Total Number May Cross 55 Crores
As per estimates, the number of pilgrims could exceed 55 crores by the end of Maha Kumbh. By Thursday night, around 85.46 lakh devotees had taken a dip at Sangam, bringing the total to 49.14 crores. By Friday evening, the count may surpass 50 crores.
Unceasing Arrival of Pilgrims
There seems to be no decline in the number of devotees at Maha Kumbh. On Thursday alone, lakhs of devotees thronged the Sangam throughout the day.
- By 8 AM - 14.79 lakh pilgrims had bathed
- By 12 PM - The number rose to 44.76 lakh
- By evening - 73.06 lakh had bathed
- By 8 PM - The count crossed 85.46 lakh
With Mahashivratri approaching, a huge gathering is anticipated as devotees come to worship Lord Shiva and take a sacred dip.
No Space in Trains and Flights
The surge in devotees has led to no availability of trains and flights for the next three weeks. Authorities have implemented strict crowd control measures and enhanced security arrangements to manage the situation.
Massive Gathering Expected on Trijata Snan
Another significant bathing festival, Trijata Snan, will take place on Friday, with an estimated one crore devotees expected to bathe at Sangam. The administration is on high alert to ensure smooth and secure proceedings.
Maha Kumbh 2025: A Historic Event
The Maha Kumbh 2025 began on January 13, with an initial estimate of 45 crore pilgrims. However, this mark has already been surpassed, and now the festival is headed toward 55 crore devotees. Pilgrims from across India and the world are arriving to experience the spiritual essence of Maha Kumbh.
The government and administration have made extensive arrangements to ensure a successful and safe execution of this grand religious congregation, making it a historic event of faith and devotion.
