Importance of Ekadashi fasting
Ekadashi fast has special importance in Hinduism. Ekadashi comes twice in a month, one in Shukla Paksha and the other in Krishna Paksha. Both Ekadashi have special importance. Lord Vishnu is worshipped in Ekadashi fast. By observing this fast, all the wishes of the person are fulfilled.
Mauni Amavasya
By observing a fast on Amavasya, ancestors attain salvation and get virtuous fruits, ancestors are pleased and all the work is completed with the blessings of ancestors. There is also a tradition of observing a silent fast on this day. It is believed that bathing in holy rivers like Triveni or Ganga and donating on this day brings virtuous fruits.
