Meditation is the practice of stillness that has calmed the mind, body, and soul for centuries. For women balancing personal and professional domains, it serves as a mental health resource. It emphasizes on the improvement of self-awareness, stress management, and emotional self-sufficiency which leads to a more holistic life.

Meditation is more than a practice; it is a way of life that Dr Narendra K Shetty, Chief Wellness Officer, Kshemavana Naturopathy and Yoga Center, believes every woman should embrace for their mental well-being. ''It gives women the ability to connect to the wondrous aspect of themselves where balance exists, thus, leading to a healthier version of themselves. Moreover, incorporating meditation into daily life increases self-esteem, emotional security, and mental tranquility, making women the epitome of strength and positivity for themselves and others,'' he remarks.

Boosting self esteem:

Self-meditation boosts women’s self-esteem and determination in life. Dr. Shetty mentions: “In cultures where women are often confronted with gender-related obstacles, meditation allows them to empower their self-confidence as well as self-disarmament. It keeps them from self-loathing, helps them develop inner power, and fulfills their challenges with strong resolution.” He adds, “Women with busy careers also benefit from meditation as it enhances their multi-tasking capabilities, thus enabling them to manage work stress effectively and to do so with tranquility. This emotional stability boosts achievement in personal and social life.”

Balancing inner peace and energy:

The practice of meditation is particularly important as it bestows an enriched state of calmness and peaceful spiritual nature. Dr. Shetty says: “It encourages women to tap into their feminine energy, which is primarily associated with love, nurturing, and intuition. This balance helps enhance their emotional intelligence and compassion towards themselves and others. Apart from helping women manage anxiety, it also empowers them to foster peaceful relations at home and in the wider society.” By practicing mindfulness, they are able to look at life through the lenses of virtue, patience, and positive thinking.

Regular meditation deeply impacts women’s physical and emotional well-being. As per Dr Shetty, meditation helps in the regulation of hormones, enhances sleep patterns, and decreases stress. He states that meditation is helpful for women suffering from post menopause anxiety and high blood pressure. “Mantra meditation such as repetitive ‘Om’ chanting is soothing which enhances wellness better,” he adds. “Women can value their self-care while juggling family, work, and social activities because meditation increases self awareness and emotional stability."
