New Delhi:  In a spirit raising news for Mahakumbh devotees Indigo has cut down fares of its flight on Prayagraj up to 30-50%. This has come as a result of the central government coming to the defense of this issue as many people travel to Prayagraj to attend the on-going Kumbh Mela.

Government Intervention Leads to Price Drop

(urges) The new decision comes on the backdrop of consumer affairs minister Prahlad Joshi complaining about the existence and high cost of fares to Prayagraj. Earlier, Joshi had suggested to the Director General of Civil Aviation to intervene to regulate fares and the prices that the Kumbh devotees have to pay.

Analyzing the increased ticket prices, it is now time to try and understand why airlines arrived at the conclusion to implement such a decision.

A number of passengers also affected was due to increased fare charges by many airlines on the Prayagraj route.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation then intervened by informing the airlines to ensure that their prices of tickets did not go high.
IndiGo became the first to respond by offering sale on fares.

This should make other airlines follow suit and opt for one price hence arriving at a similar conclusion of lowering ticket prices.

The new prices for the flights going to Prayagraj are as follows, as stated on IndiGo’s website:
