Google is making a useful but small change on its phone dialer application, which would assist with organizing call records on the device. All inbound, outbound, and missed call records have always appeared on the Recents page of the app with no filter provisions to categorize them as missed, received, called, or even spam. Google has, however, made the design at the top of the search bar on the Phone app which serves all four tabs broader. With the most recent update, this has changed.

Google phone application gets a new addition: Key points

As reported by the 9to5Google website, the most recent update of the Google Phone app enables filters for the phone calls section of the app so users can sort their call records as missed calls as well as calls from contacts and even from spam-marked calls. Now users can view their important missed calls at a glance through the filter or forgot something over filtering calls from unknown number’s which is greatly beneficial.

These filters will be added in the Phone app under the ‘Recent’ tab, and the users will hopefully be the first to receive the UI update on the Pixel 9 series. Besides, the Phone app is now taller and follows Google’s Material 3 design language, which we already saw in other primary apps such as Gmail and Sheets.

It is important to highlight that Google has not yet incorporated the functionality to filter calls using only incoming versus outgoing information. Still, these functionalities could be introduced in later Android updates. Android users should make sure that the Google Phone app on their devices is updated and look out for the features if they are on their devices.
