If you've been following GTA 6 updates, you're likely aware that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, aims to release the highly anticipated open-world game in Fall 2025. However, with the recent announcement of Borderlands 4’s release date, the timeline for GTA 6’s launch has become clearer—suggesting it might be pushed back slightly.

There’s a strategic reason behind this potential delay. In the highly competitive gaming industry, companies typically avoid launching major titles too close to one another. Since Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 4 is officially set to release on September 23, 2025, Take-Two may decide to delay GTA 6 to ensure Borderlands 4 gets its time in the spotlight.

According to a RockstarIntel report, Take-Two informed investors in November 2024 that Borderlands 4 was planned for release between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. This came after Rockstar had already confirmed GTA 6 for Fall 2025.

Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, emphasized this point in an interview on the same day, stating, "I think it’s safe to say that we wouldn’t, and no one would, stack up huge releases unnecessarily." This makes it clear that Take-Two is unlikely to release both games in close succession.

Given this, it’s safe to assume that GTA 6 won’t launch in September. Instead, Rockstar may push the release to late October, November, or even December, allowing Borderlands 4 at least two months of breathing room in the market.

While fans may need to wait a little longer, this move ensures that both titles get their deserved attention without cannibalizing each other's sales.
