The filmmaker termed ‘KGF Chapter 2’ as a “big bad shadow” and said that the film is a disaster for all other big films. In a separate tweet, Ram Gopal Varma wrote that ‘KGF Chapter 2’ is like a giant tree under whose shade no other tree can grow, while another tweet hinted that the Yash starrer film is like sand. Like, it swallows up all the old giants.
Ram Gopal Varma wrote in a tweet on Thursday, “I think #KGF2 is like a giant tree in whose shade no tree can grow. The way films from South are going to theaters and films from North are not going, it seems that Bollywood is soon going to make films only for OTT.
Earlier, in a conversation with India Today, Ram Gopal Varma responded to southern superstar Mahesh Babu’s comment on “Bollywood can’t stand it” saying, “It’s his choice as an actor. But I honestly don’t understand what it means to be a Bollywood who can’t stand it. I still don’t understand what it means because the thing is, if you look at the latest South Indian movies, they were dubbed and released and whatever they did, they made money. ,
Ram Gopal Varma called Bollywood a media label
He further said, “Bollywood is not a company. This is a label provided by the media. If an individual film company or production house will ask you to make a film at a certain cost, how can they generalize Bollywood, I can’t. They don’t understand.”
Ram Gopal Varma made his directorial debut with the Telugu film ‘Shiva’. He then directed Hindi films like Rangeela, Satya, Sarkar and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. He has won a National Award for his screenplay in the political drama Shul.
