Fortune Global 500 List: LIC beats Reliance Industries, this American company tops

Recently another record has been registered in the name of government insurance company LIC, which was listed in the stock market. Although LIC’s performance in the stock market has not been excellent so far, it has outperformed all other Indian companies in the Fortune Global 500 list. India’s largest listed company Reliance Industries is also far behind LIC.

LIC ranks first

LIC has made it to the latest Fortune Global 500 list for the first time. This time 9 companies of India have got a place in the list. Of these, 5 companies are government owned, while the remaining 4 companies are in the private sector. LIC has been ranked 98th in this list prepared on the basis of revenue. The company ranks first in India with revenue of approximately $97.27 billion and profit of $553.8 million.

Reliance Industries is second only to India in the Fortune Global 500 list. Reliance Industries has been a part of this list continuously for the last 19 years. Globally, Reliance is ranked 104th with revenue of $93.98 billion and net profit of $8.15 billion. The ranking of Reliance Industries has improved by 51 places as compared to last year. Apart from LIC and Reliance Industries, SBI is the only name among Indian companies that has managed to make it to the list. While two Tata group companies Tata Motors and Tata Steel have also found a place in the list.

 

These government companies got the place

State-run oil marketing company Indian Oil is ranked 142nd among Indian companies making the list. The company’s ranking has improved by 28 places as compared to a year ago. On the other hand, another state-owned company, ONGC, managed to jump 16 places to attain the 190th rank. Public sector BPCL is at 295th position. There has been an improvement of 19 places in the ranking of BPCL as compared to last year. SBI has managed to jump 17 places to get the 236th rank.

Both Top Ranked US Companies

If we look at the private companies included in the list, then Reliance Industries is at the top. Apart from this, Tata Motors of the Tata Group is at 370th position. Tata Steel has managed to secure the 435th position. Rajesh Exports has been ranked 437th. Of the top 5 companies in the list, 2 are from America, while 3 Chinese companies have managed to make it to the top 5. American retailer Walmart topped the list for the 9th year in a row. Jeff Bezos’s company Amazon has got the second place. This is Amazon’s best rating ever.

China’s State Grid Corporation of China ranks third in this year’s list, while China National Petroleum Corporation is in fourth place. China’s Sinopec Group is at the fifth place in this list. Saudi Aramco of Saudi Arabia has got the sixth place in this list. Companies like Volkswagen, China State Construction Engineering, CVS Health are also included in the top 10.
