Fair rise in dollar against rupee

Mumbai: The dollar saw a one-sided jump against the rupee in the Mumbai currency market today and there were signs of closing of the dollar amid a slow decline at the end of the day. After the initial boom in the stock market, the effect was seen in the currency market as soon as the market fell from the heights. Dollar price opened this morning at Rs 79.69 at Rs 79.78. After a low of Rs 79.58, the dollar again rose to a high of Rs 79.78 to close the top of Rs 79.75.

Meanwhile, news came in the world market that the global index of dollar fell from the level of 110 to a low of 109.36 at 109.59 today against various major currencies. The two-day meeting of the Federal Reserve in the US has started on Tuesday and it was reported that the decision on increasing interest rates will be given on Wednesday 9th. The world market was discussing the possibility of an interest rate increase of about a quarter percent in the United States.

Meanwhile, the British Pound rose by 39 paise to Rs 91.15 at Rs 91.01 in the Mumbai market today. The pound gained against the dollar in the world market.

The price of European currency Euro also rose by 28 paise to Rs 79.82 from Rs 79.99 against the rupee in Mumbai market today. Situations like dollar low and euro high were seen today. The Japanese currency remained calm against the rupee today. Prices held up. However, market sources said that the price of the Chinese currency was minus 0.29 per cent against the rupee. The meeting of the central banks of England, Japan and Switzerland in the world market was also witnessed by the market players.
