Washington:   Opposition to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh is also being seen in America. In this sequence, people of Bangladeshi origin American Hindu, Buddhist and Christian community have protested in America. Bangladeshi-origin Americans have urged the newly elected President Donald Trump to intervene in the ongoing atrocities against religious and ethnic minorities in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi-origin Americans have requested Trump to help protect the minority community in Bangladesh, saying that there is a threat of 'existential crisis' for the minority community from Islamic forces. 

The threat of radicalism is increasing in Bangladesh

Urging Trump to ensure the immediate release of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das, the group said Bangladesh is facing a growing threat of radicalism, which could have far-reaching implications not only for South Asia but also for the rest of the world. In a memorandum addressed to Trump, the group suggested linking Bangladesh's participation in UN peacekeeping missions to the end of internal ethnic and religious persecution.

Security will be provided by making law

According to the press release, the memorandum also proposes a comprehensive Minority Protection Act to officially recognise minorities and indigenous groups. According to the release, the major recommendations include the establishment of reserved areas for minority communities, separate electoral system for minorities and laws against hate speech and incitement to crime to protect religious practices and cultural heritage.
