Champions Trophy England Squad: There has been some distressing news for Buttler's England squad during the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Brydon Carse, their right-arm fast bowler, is set to miss out on the remaining games of the tournament owing to a toe injury. Rehan Ahmed has been replaced in the squad. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have said that Carse will not participate in the tournament.
He was hurt against the Australians
The ECB announced, “Due to a left toe injury, Durham and England’s bowling all-rounder Brydon Carss is withdrawn from the remaining matches of the ICC Men's Champions Trophy.” Carss suffered the injury while playing Australia during the first match of Group B of the Champions Trophy held in Lahore on Saturday. He could not partake in the England training session on Monday because of a toe injury he picked during the match.
So many runs were given away
He was expected to be rested after the match against Australia, but due to injury, he had to be pulled out from the match. Carse's toe injury made him the most expensive bowler suffering under the Australian team. He made England’s bowlers face a staggering economy of 9.85. England set Australia an impressive target of 352, which they played with ease and achieved in record time.
The Fault Within Automobiles Is Ancient
As noted by the ESPNcricinfo report, Carse English’s problem began has having a blister on his toe while on an England Tour in India prior to the 2023 Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, he developed complications that required stitching and hence he could not participate in the last two ODIs against India. Subsequently, the injury meant that he had to miss England’s Champions Trophy and thus the last two group stage matches against Afghanistan on Wednesday in Lahore.
Rashid Has Got The Backing Of Rehan
Rehan, who was substituted for Cars, was part of the English squad during the ODI white ball series in India. Recently, he has been added to the squad which will bolster England’s spin attack as Adil Rashid is the only specialist spinner. The 20 year old slow bowler has so far claimed 10 wickets in 5 matches for England. Now that Cars is missing, Overton is expected to step in and take his spot in the English starting eleven. Other fast bowlers selected in the England 15-man squad are Saqib Mahmood and Gus Atkinson.
