The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has requested Rs 93 crore from the Uttar Pradesh government to complete the final phase of the Agra Metro's construction. This funding has now been included in the state budget.

Breakdown of the Funds:

The Rs 93 crore request is divided into three parts:

  • Rs 40 crore is for the construction of the first and second metro corridors.
  • Rs 53 crore is earmarked for taxes and other associated expenses.

Construction Progress:

Once UPMRC receives the allocated funds, construction of the final phase of the metro project will accelerate. The metro line is expected to start operations towards Khandari by June.

Ongoing Construction:

Several metro stations are under construction, including those at SN Medical College, Agra College, Raja Ki Mandi, RBS, ISBT, Guru Ka Tal, and Sikandra.

Details of the First Corridor:

The first corridor of the Agra Metro will have 13 stations, currently operating between Taj East and Mankameshwar stations. After completion, the metro will cover a total distance of 29.4 km.

Metro Operations Timeline:

The goal is to finish the station construction from Mankameshwar to Sikandra by May, with metro services expected to begin on the first corridor before June.

Second Corridor Development:

The second corridor, extending 15 km from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar, is also progressing rapidly.

Overall Budget:

The total proposed budget for the Agra Metro project is around Rs 8,000 crore, with reports indicating that 60% of the funding will come from banks, while the remaining 40% will be shared by the central and state governments.
