In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 19 proposals related to the development and organizational reforms of the state have got the green signal. In this meeting, while the new rules were approved to strengthen the tourism sector, the temple museum in Ayodhya has also got the green signal. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Tourism Service Rules, 2025 has got the cabinet's approval. This decision will strengthen the administrative structure of the Tourism Department and will give a rapid boost to tourism activities in the state. The proposal to establish 'District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre' (DDRC) at each divisional headquarters has also been approved.
The government has taken a major step toward structural reform in the Tourism Department. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Tourism Service Rules-2025 has been introduced, implementing comprehensive structural reforms within the department. Under the new rules, the positions of Publications Officer, Additional District Tourism Officer, and Tourism Information Officer in the Tourism Subordinate Service cadre will now be filled through both direct recruitment and promotion. The Tourism Department's proposal regarding this was approved in the state cabinet meeting held on Monday.
In this regard, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that all previous rules, orders, and guidelines have been superseded by the implementation of the new regulations. According to the department, candidates for the position of Publication Officer will be selected through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, while recruitment for the position of Tourism Information Officer will be conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. The new system is expected to make the selection process more transparent and competitive.
Comprehensive provisions in the service structure
The new regulations also incorporate other administrative provisions, including those governing appointments, service conditions, promotions, qualifications, and seniority. Principal Secretary of Tourism, Amrit Abhijat, stated that these regulations will ensure a coordinated, efficient, and modern service structure within the Tourism Department. The state government believes these reforms will accelerate tourism development in the state and enhance administrative efficiency.
