The biting cold of late January is officially taking a backseat. After a week of Western Disturbances bringing rain and clouds to North India, Rajasthan is now seeing a significant shift in weather. According to the latest reports from the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the state is set for a period of dry weather and rising temperatures over the next 3 to 4 days.

The Rise in Mercury

The primary headline is a predicted rise of 2°C to 3°C in both maximum and minimum temperatures across most districts. As the clouds clear and the sun turns sharper, the afternoon "winter chill" is quickly being replaced by a mild summer-like heat. In some western districts like Barmer and Chittorgarh, the mercury has already started flirting with the 29°C to 30°C mark, making them the hottest spots in the state.

Why the Sudden Change?

The impact of recent Western Disturbances has almost completely faded. Without the cloud cover to block the sun, solar radiation is intensifying. Even in places like Fatehpur and Sikar, which were near the freezing point just a few weeks ago, daytime temperatures are now soaring into the high 20s.

Morning Chill Still Lingers

While your afternoons might feel warm enough to ditch the heavy sweaters, don't pack them away just yet. The Met department warns that morning and night temperatures will still feel chilly. Light fog and haze are expected in the early hours, especially in northern and eastern parts like Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Bikaner.

Advice for Residents

Health experts are advising people to be careful of the "double season" effect where the gap between day and night temperatures is wide. This is often the time when seasonal colds and flu peak. For school-going children and the elderly, light woolens are still recommended for early morning and late evening outings.

As we head into the weekend, expect clear blue skies, bright sunshine, and a definitive feeling that spring is just around the corner.
