If you’ve been enjoying the pleasant spring sun in Jharkhand, you might want to keep an umbrella or a raincoat handy starting today. The weather department has issued a fresh alert, predicting a sudden shift in conditions across the state. We’re looking at a mix of light to moderate rain, thunder, and some rather gusty winds.

What’s Triggering the Change?

According to the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi, a cyclonic circulation is currently hovering over the region. This system is drawing in moisture, which is expected to trigger rain and thundershowers in several districts. It’s not just a drizzle, though—the winds are expected to pick up speed, hitting anywhere between 30 to 40 kmph.

Which Areas are Most Affected?

While the entire state might see some cloud cover, the "yellow alert" specifically highlights the southern and central parts of Jharkhand.

Ranchi and Khunti: Expect overcast skies with a high chance of evening thundershowers.

Jamshedpur and East Singhbhum: These areas might see slightly more intense wind activity.

Palamu and Garhwa: While the heat has been rising here, the rain might provide some temporary relief, though it comes with a risk of lightning.

A Word of Caution

With wind speeds hitting 40 kmph, it’s a good idea to secure any loose items on balconies or rooftops. More importantly, the weather office has warned about lightning strikes. If you hear thunder, the best advice is to stay indoors and avoid standing under tall trees or near electric poles.

Is the Heatwave Over?

Not quite. While the rain will bring a welcome dip in the mercury for a day or two, it’s a temporary break. Once the clouds clear out towards the weekend, temperatures are expected to climb back up as we head deeper into March.

For now, enjoy the cool breeze, but stay alert for those sudden afternoon storms!
