Garuda Purana is considered one of the most important texts in Hinduism which describes the journey of the soul after death and the cycle of life and death in great detail according to this scripture there are four specific holy objects that can ensure the entry of a soul into heaven if they are present near the dying person during their final moments

The first holy item is the Tulsi plant which is revered as a goddess in Hindu Dharma and keeping a Tulsi leaf in the mouth of the dying person or placing them near the plant is believed to offer immediate salvation Lord Vishnu states that Yamadoots or the messengers of death do not approach a person who dies with Tulsi near them ensuring their journey to Vaikuntha is peaceful

The second important item is Gangajal or the holy water from the river Ganges which is considered the destroyer of all sins and placing a few drops of Gangajal in the mouth of a dying person is a centuries old tradition that is believed to purify the soul and grant it passage to heaven even if no other rituals are performed

The third object mentioned in the scriptures is Kusha grass which is a sacred grass used in rituals and it is said that if a dying person is laid on a mat made of Kusha grass it helps the soul detach from the body without suffering and protects it from negative forces during the transition from the earthly realm

The fourth significant thing is Sesame seeds or Til which are considered very pious in Vedic traditions and donating sesame seeds or having them near the person at the time of death helps in liberating the soul from its sins and karma facilitating a smooth journey to the afterlife without the torment of hell

These four elements Tulsi Gangajal Kusha and Sesame are described by Lord Vishnu to Garuda as the ultimate means to attain Swarg and avoid the punishment of the afterlife
