In a candid and wide-ranging address during his visit to Ajmer, Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister, Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, didn't hold back. Known for his "People’s Leader" persona, Meena took a sharp dig at the current political climate, labeling it "purely commercial."
Politics: Service vs. Business
Meena lamented that for many today, politics is no longer about public service but has turned into a "profitable business." He contrasted this with his own philosophy, stating that his primary drive has always been—and remains—the welfare of the people, regardless of political consequences.
Social Duty Over Ministerial Post
The Minister shared a personal anecdote from the Samravata incident, where he visited arrested youth in jail. Despite being "scolded" and told that a sitting minister shouldn't meet with individuals accused of crimes, Meena stood his ground.
"Helping my brothers and sisters in their hour of crisis is my biggest duty. If I don't stand with them now, it’s a sin. I don't care if I lose my ministerial post for it," he declared, emphasizing that social bonds come before party protocols.
A Journey of Resilience: RSS, Emergency, and Independent Victory
Reflecting on his long political career, Meena recalled:
The RSS Roots: Being a volunteer since his youth and serving jail time during the Emergency when the RSS was banned.
The Rebel Spirit: He reminisced about the time he was expelled from the BJP by Vasundhara Raje.
The Historic 2009 Win: He reminded everyone of the 2009 Dausa Lok Sabha elections, where despite massive security and aerial surveillance, he was elected as an Independent MP, causing both the BJP and Congress candidates to lose their deposits.
The Reservation Shield
Amidst ongoing rumors, Meena gave a stern message on reservation. He assured the public that as long as he is alive, no harm will come to the reservation system. He dismissed claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to abolish reservation as mere baseless rumors.
On Congress and the Paper Leak Scandal
Taking a swipe at his political rivals, Meena recalled how he was physically tortured and jailed during the previous Congress regime. He asserted that he would rather quit politics than join a party that tried to "break him." He also took credit for exposing the RPSC paper leak, noting that while he was arrested for questioning the RPSC chairman during the Congress rule, the current government has successfully jailed 63 police officers and several RPSC members involved in the scam.
A Call to Mothers and Families
Ending on a social note, he called mothers "the biggest universities for teaching values" and urged families to take responsibility for the character-building of the younger generation.
Whether it’s standing up to his own party or taking on the opposition, Kirodi Lal Meena continues to be the "Robin Hood" of Rajasthan politics—unapologetic, fierce, and deeply connected to his roots..
