In the wake of the deadly car blast in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made a fervent appeal against the stereotyping of Kashmiris, asserting that "not every Kashmiri Muslim is a terrorist. His comments come as the investigation has linked the explosion to a "white-collar" terror module that includes a doctor from Pulwama.
Condemning the blast as a brutal and unjustifiable act, Abdullah emphasized that the actions of a few individuals should not be used to vilify an entire community. "It is highly condemnable. No religion can justify the killing of innocents with such brutality," he stated. “When we look at every resident of J&K and every Kashmiri Muslim with a single ideology and think that each one of them is a terrorist, it is difficult to keep the people on the right track.”
The Chief Minister stressed that while the perpetrators of the attack must face the strictest punishment, care must be taken to ensure that innocent people are not harassed or targeted.He acknowledged that only a handful of people are trying to disrupt peace and that the majority of Kashmiris are not associated with terrorism
The investigation into the blast, which killed at least 13 people near the Red Fort, has uncovered a terror plot allegedly orchestrated by a module of educated professionals, including doctors.The prime suspect, Dr. Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama, is believed to have been driving the car that exploded This has led to concerns about potential backlash and discrimination against people from the Union Territory
Abdullah questioned the security failures that allowed such an incident to occur and pointed out that the involvement of educated individuals in terrorism is not a new phenomenon. His remarks serve as a caution against collective blame and a call for a fair and just investigation.
