Some friendships are so comfortable and unfiltered that you can truly be yourself, even if that means accidentally falling asleep in the middle of a roaring party. That’s the kind of bond director Farah Khan shares with tennis superstar Sania Mirza, and a hilarious story she recently shared proves just that.
Speaking on Neha Dhupia’s podcast, "No Filter Neha," Farah Khan spilled the beans on a night that has since become a legendary tale between the two friends.
The Scene: A Pumping Nightclub, A Birthday Bash
The setting was Sania Mirza’s birthday party at a fancy nightclub in Hyderabad. The music was loud, the energy was high, and everyone was celebrating. But for Farah, who had been working nonstop, the celebration was hitting a little differently. She was completely exhausted.
As the night wore on, the tiredness took over. Farah found a comfortable-looking sofa, sat down for "just a minute," and the next thing she knew, the booming music of the club had turned into a lullaby. She was fast asleep.
A Sleeping Celebrity and a Misunderstanding
Now, a sleeping person in a loud nightclub is an unusual sight. A sleeping celebrity is practically an event. Soon enough, other party guests started to notice the famous director napping on the couch.
But they didn't think she was tired. They assumed something else entirely.
"I had just dozed off," Farah explained. "And I don’t drink alcohol at all. But people gathered around me, taking pictures and videos, thinking I was dead drunk and had passed out!"
She woke up to find herself the center of amused attention, with everyone believing she had a bit too much fun. Instead of being embarrassed, Farah now finds the whole incident hilarious. She even joked about how people still have those photos of her "drunk" moment.
More than anything, the story is a sweet testament to her genuine friendship with Sania Mirza. After all, what is a best friend's party for if not a place you feel safe and comfortable enough to accidentally take a nap?
