Good news for movie buffs! After a bit of a delay, Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring the talented Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has finally made its way to cinemas, and the first reactions are looking pretty good.

The comedy-drama, directed by Karan Sharma, was initially set for a May 9 release. However, it hit a snag due to some political tensions that even led to a bit of legal drama between the production house, Maddock Films, and major multiplex chains.

But with all that sorted and the film now playing, it seems the wait might have been worth it. Social media is buzzing, and many are calling it one of the year’s most charming family entertainers – a real feel-good movie packed with laughs, life lessons, and a whole lot of heart.

Respected film critic Taran Adarsh echoed this sentiment, calling it "HEARTWARMING" on X (formerly Twitter). He described it as "A feel-good tale with entertaining moments and some good humour," though he did note it "Loses grip post-interval, but the solid finale redeems it... Good watch!"

Other early viewers had slightly more mixed feelings, though still leaning positive. One fan tweeted about "a mix of funny gags and good scenes, but marred by a repetitive and flat screenplay." Another found it "engaging, while also lacking nuance," noting that while the "unique premise of a time loop in a romantic setting" was refreshing, "the execution fell short, citing predictability and stagnant writing." Yet another summed it up as offering "a light-hearted experience with moments of humour and emotional depth... an enjoyable watch for fans of romantic comedies," even if not "groundbreaking."

Set against a backdrop of family chaos and the beauty of second chances, Bhool Chuk Maaf aims to deliver a story rich in both humour and emotion. And it seems Rajkummar and Wamiqa are a big part of its charm, with many praising their performances and infectious on-screen chemistry.

The film’s official social media handle even got poetic to build excitement: "Ranjan aur Titli hain taiyaar... Pahuch chuke hain sabhi rishtedaar... Bas aapka hai intezaar... Toh aaiye theatres mein seh parivaar." (Ranjan and Titli are ready... All the relatives have arrived... We are just waiting for you... So come to the theatres with your family.)

It’s worth remembering the journey this film has had. Before its theatrical release, there was a brief moment when Maddock Films planned an OTT premiere for May 16. This move actually led to PVRInox suing the studio for breach of contract, claiming potential losses of a whopping Rs 60 crore! Thankfully, that legal tussle was resolved amicably, paving the way for today's cinema release.
