The latest evaluation indicates that India's nuclear inventory includes more than 160 warheads deployed for operational launchers, alongside roughly 30 additional warheads currently under development to equip upcoming missile systems. As part of its broader defense modernization strategy, New Delhi has actively deployed several advanced weapon systems in recent years while concurrently testing and developing platforms designed to replace or complement existing nuclear-capable aircraft, ground-based launchers, and sea-based delivery assets. Calculating on the basis of roughly four kilograms of plutonium per warhead, this fissile reserve is theoretically sufficient to manufacture between 140 and 225 nuclear warheads.
