Sunday turned into an evening of widespread digital disruption for thousands of social media users across the United States as Meta Platforms witnessed a sudden, sweeping outage that knocked both Facebook and Instagram offline. Frustrated users nationwide found themselves abruptly locked out of their accounts, encountering blank feeds, failed refresh requests, and recurring server error prompts across mobile applications and desktop web interfaces.
