Popular music director and singer Vishal Dadlani has officially stepped down as a judge from the long-running music reality show Indian Idol, marking the end of a six-year association that began in 2018 with Season 10.

Dadlani took to Instagram to share the news with his followers, posting a heartfelt message and a video montage featuring fellow judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah. In the video, the original audio was replaced with Christian 21’s track “Time,” symbolizing a reflective farewell.

Reason Behind His Departure

In his caption, Vishal revealed the reason for his exit—his need to step away from the six-month-long commitment the show demands each year in Mumbai. He expressed a strong desire to return to live performances and music production, saying, “Can’t stay stuck in Mumbai for 6 months each year. Time to get back to making music, playing concerts, and almost never putting on make-up.”

A Heartfelt Goodbye to the Indian Idol Family

The video featured an emotional on-screen message:

“That’s all from me, folks! Six straight seasons later, tonight is my last episode as a judge on Indian Idol. I hope the show will miss me as much as I’ll miss it.”

He expressed gratitude to colleagues, naming Shreya, Badshah, host Aditya Narayan, producers, crew members, fellow judges, musicians, and the entire Indian Idol team for making the journey memorable.

A Touching Social Media Post

In his farewell post, Vishal wrote:

“Alvida, yaaro. 6 seasons mein jitna mazaa kiya, uss se bhi zyada yaad aayegi... Haqq se zyada pyaar milaa hai, iss show ki vajah se. Eternally grateful to everyone involved.”

He also thanked behind-the-scenes crew members, including lighting, sound, photography, and stage management teams, acknowledging their hard work and support across seasons.

Aditya Narayan Responds

Reacting to the announcement, Indian Idol host Aditya Narayan commented,

“The end of an era. Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. Grateful for all the great times together.”
