New Delhi: Indian team (Team India) opener and known as Hitman Rohit (Rohit Sharma) on board (BCCI) have been nominated for this year’s Khel Ratna. Hitman Rohit Sharma on Sunday thanked the board for this. BCCI has uploaded a video to Rohit Sharma in which Rohit said, “I feel very honored to be nominated for Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna .” I am thankful to BCCI, all my teammates, sports staff, fans and my family for supporting me.

Rohit has set many benchmarks as a batsman and has achieved what many players could not. We feel that he deserves the Khel Ratna.

Team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who scored five centuries in One Day World Cup last year, has been recommended by the BCCI for the ‘Khel Ratna’ award. He said, he deserves it because of his commitment, conduct, consistency and leadership ability. Secretary Jai Shah said, Rohit Sharma has raised the level of his personal performance manifold in the last five years. He also captained in the absence of Virat Kohli.
Ishant Sharma, who has played 97 Tests, 80 ODIs and 14 T20s for India, received this nomination late. He has taken 297 Test wickets and will soon become the second fast bowler after Kapil Dev, who has played 100 Tests. Shikhar Dhawan is the fastest Indian to score 2000, 3000 runs in ODI cricket, making the fastest century in debut. He has scored 5688 runs in 136 ODIs, including 17 centuries. Deepti Sharma has played 54 ODIs and 48 T20s and the highest individual score of an Indian woman in ODI is a record of 188 runs.
