A day of fasting associated with worshipping Lord Vishnu is called Varuthini Ekadashi. It will be observed on Thursday, April 24 in the year 2025.
In the North Indian Purnimanta calendar, this vrat is done during the Krishna Paksha of Vaishakha month.
While observing the Amanta calendar from South India, this vrat occurs in the month of Chaitra.
Regardless of the calendars being used, both regions follow the same observance date.

Note that Parana has to be observed, or the vow has to be completed within Dwadashi Tithi. Dwadashi Tithi ends is a violation paralakshagana style.
Fast Breaking Observance Rules (Parana)
Never observe the fast during Hari Vasara.
The best time for Lodge Varaha Vratakalam Pratahayam is post Surya Udaya – that is in the early morning,
If it is not possible, then fast may be broken post Madya Divas time.
Fasting Instructions for Varuthini Ekadashi
In instances where Ekadashi occurs over two days:
Smarthas - Householders: Fast on the first day.
Sanyasis, widows, spiritual seekers: Fast on the second day.
Vaishnavas: Generally prefer to observe on the second day.
Any devotee seeking higher spiritual merit might choose to fast on both days.
