Yogi Government's Mega Infrastructure: 24 New Bridges Worth Rs 29.77 Crore Sanctioned for Deoria and Gorakhpur
In a major administrative push to upgrade grassroots infrastructure, rural connectivity, and drainage networks, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sanctioned the construction of 24 new small bridges across Deoria and Gorakhpur districts. Approved under the State Plan (Rural), the comprehensive infrastructure projects involve a total financial outlay of Rs 29.77 crore. To ensure swift execution on the ground, the state administration has already released an initial installment of Rs 5.95 crore for the 2026-27 financial year, empowering the Public Works Department (PWD) to replace aging, dilapidated, and damaged minor bridges with modern, heavy-load structures.
Transforming Rural Connectivity Across Deoria with 10 Sanctioned Projects
The Deoria district has received administrative clearance for 10 key infrastructure projects amounting to approximately Rs 13.73 crore, with an initial allocation of Rs 2.74 crore released for the current fiscal year. These initiatives focus on replacing old culverts and constructing robust box culverts and minor bridges on vital rural connecting roads. Key locations designated for construction include box culverts on the Jamuar drain between Narsinghdad and Chakkimusadohi, the Lakhna link road in Bhaluani block, and the Kerhi drain on the Belhi-Udhopur link road.
Additionally, new RCC and minor bridges are slated for construction across critical stretches, including the Gudri link road in Baitalpur block, the Rampur Hiraman Chauraha-Madrapali Bharatrai road in Deshai Deoria, the Pakdi Veerbhadra-Gopalpur-Nautan Hathiagarh route, and across the rainy drain between Noniya Chhapar and Vishunpur Khurd. Dilapidated structures on the Kamariya-Bharouli link road and the Jamuar drain near the Pipra Dam-Pipra Pathak route will also be completely overhauled, ensuring seamless movement for local commuters and farmers alike.
Gorakhpur Receives 14 New Bridge Projects to Boost Drainage and Transport
Complementing the developments in Deoria, Gorakhpur district has secured approval for 14 infrastructure projects aimed at eliminating transportation bottlenecks and resolving waterlogging issues. The Public Works Department will construct advanced box culverts, RCC culverts, and small bridges across strategic rural and semi-urban routes. These cover prominent areas such as Kalyanpur, Chilwa Dalit Basti-Dhosahar Belwabari, Ghobouli-Ashapur, Pidra-Belpar Mathiya, Usrain-Innadih-Bharahiya-Hudri, Bismilha-Chakrampur, Bajaha, Chhamusthan-Ghirautola Sheetalpur, and Bhatta Chowraha-Choti Retvaiya.
Furthermore, extensive bridge construction and approach road development have been sanctioned in the Piprauli development block, covering crucial links like Mahuadabar-Gopalpur-Padaria-Sewai, Budhat Baijalpur-Sahiya Pranpur-Chandapur, and Jiginna Farsadad. By upgrading these crucial transit corridors alongside recent urban transport initiatives like Gorakhpur's electric double-decker bus routes, the Yogi government is aggressively transforming eastern Uttar Pradesh into an economically vibrant and well-connected region.
