Uttar Pradesh Weather Update: Monsoon Nears Departure With Erratic Showers, IMD Issues Thunderstorm Warnings for Eastern Districts
Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing a fascinating yet erratic transition in weather patterns as the southwest monsoon enters its final phase across the region. Residents of the capital city, Lucknow, witnessed a striking display of atmospheric mood swings on Thursday evening when localized weather systems took over. While major parts of the city like Gomtinagar, Indiranagar, and Vrindavan basked under bright and unyielding sunshine, a sudden cluster of dense rain clouds enveloped other localities around 5:00 PM, unleashing a sharp, 30-minute downpour stretching from the 1090 intersection all the way to Charbagh. This sharp contrast has kept residents on their toes as humid heat and sudden overcast skies alternate rapidly.
IMD Issues Thunderstorm and Lightning Warnings for Eastern Uttar Pradesh
According to senior meteorological expert Atul Kumar Singh, overall monsoon activity across the state has now witnessed a significant decline. While central and western districts of Uttar Pradesh are anticipated to experience largely clear skies and dry weather conditions over the next five to six days, eastern parts of the state remain under a localized weather alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued cautionary thunderstorm and lightning warnings for Friday across several eastern districts, including Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bareilly, and Pilibhit, where sporadic cloud activity could trigger isolated spells of light rain.
Rising Temperatures and Humidity Bring Discomfort to Residents
With the gradual withdrawal of active monsoon currents, daytime temperatures across various districts have climbed above normal averages, intensifying the discomfort caused by high atmospheric humidity. In Lucknow, maximum temperatures touched 34.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum hovered around 26.6 degrees Celsius, accompanied by sticky, humid conditions following Thursday evening's brief showers. Meteorological forecasts indicate that while light showers may persist in isolated pockets, clear skies and warm sunshine are expected to return statewide starting Saturday, signaling the imminent and formal withdrawal of the monsoon season from Uttar Pradesh.
