UP Weather Update: Rain to Halt and Sunshine to Return Across 50 Districts While 24 Regions Face Thunderstorm Alerts

The weather pattern across Uttar Pradesh is undergoing a significant transition, bringing much-needed relief from continuous downpours as rain is poised to stop across more than 50 districts spanning both the eastern and western regions of the state. According to meteorological forecasts issued by the regional weather department, bright sunshine is expected to return to these areas over the next 24 hours. While the clearance of skies and cessation of precipitation will bring drier conditions, meteorologists have warned that the combination of strong sunshine and rising temperatures will trigger an uptick in day temperatures, causing residents to experience discomfort due to heightened humidity levels across the state.
Thunderstorm and Lightning Alerts for 24 Districts
Despite the broader shift toward clearer skies, localized weather disruptions remain active in specific pockets. Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh indicated that intermittent thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to persist in 24 specific districts. The alert zones include Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravi Das Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, and their surrounding areas. Meanwhile, light, scattered showers may occur at isolated spots across eastern Uttar Pradesh and southern districts, though weather warnings are largely expected to expire following September 10, allowing general weather conditions to normalize across the rest of the state.
Temperature Fluctuations in Lucknow and Kanpur
The changing atmospheric dynamics were already evident in major urban centers on Wednesday. The state capital, Lucknow, welcomed bright sunshine from the early morning hours, driving a one-degree Celsius increase in the maximum temperature to settle at 34.6 degree Celsius. Similarly, industrial hub Kanpur recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state, touching 36.2 degree Celsius. With the monsoon trough stabilizing and most districts clearing up, day temperatures are projected to hover around or slightly above normal levels across Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.
