UP Weather: Light Showers Forecast for 10 Western Districts as Monsoon Recedes
The prolonged spell of widespread rainfall that drenched Uttar Pradesh over the past week has begun to taper off significantly, marking a transition toward drier and warmer conditions across the state. While most central and eastern areas experienced clear weather starting Friday, meteorological indicators point to a localized shift on Saturday across the western belt. A fresh western disturbance developing around the Jammu and Kashmir region is likely to bring light rain and isolated thunderstorms to 10 districts in western Uttar Pradesh, following which day temperatures across the state are projected to jump by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius starting Sunday.
Western Disturbance Triggers Isolated Rain and Thunderstorms
Meteorologists at the Regional Meteorological Center in Lucknow note that the atmospheric disturbance over the northern Himalayas will cause temporary weather variations in specific pockets of the state:
10 Western Districts on Watch: Western UP districts are expected to witness brief cloud cover accompanied by light showers and thundery activity on Saturday, though the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has ruled out any warnings for heavy downpours.
Persistent Clouds in Southern Belt: Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center, Lucknow, confirmed that overall precipitation will decline statewide, though intermittent cloudiness and isolated drizzles will persist across selected southern districts.
Clear Skies in Eastern UP and Lucknow: Eastern Uttar Pradesh, alongside the state capital Lucknow and adjoining central plain zones, will experience mostly clear skies and bright sunshine through the weekend.
Heat to Return as Temperatures Set to Rise by 2 to 3 Degrees
With the rain-bearing weather system rapidly retreating, the brief relief provided by cool easterly winds and overcast skies is poised to fade:
Sunday Temperature Surge: Daytime maximum temperatures are forecast to register a steady climb of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius beginning Sunday, bringing back humid afternoon conditions across both rural and urban areas.
Current Temperature Readings: On Friday, Lucknow recorded a comfortable maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius alongside a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius, but the withdrawal of rain activity will push the mercury upward across central and eastern regions.
