UP Board Topper Shreya Takes Charge as Siddharthnagar DM for a Day Under Mission Shakti
Demonstrating the transformative spirit of the Uttar Pradesh government's Mission Shakti campaign, academic prodigy Shreya stepped into the shoes of the District Magistrate of Siddharthnagar on Friday, October 16, 2026. Hailing from Pachhari village in the Bansi development block, the meritorious student was handed administrative charge for a day by District Magistrate Shivsharanappa GN. Taking the helm in the presence of senior district officials, Shreya took charge of public grievance redressal, evaluating citizen petitions and issuing administrative directives to block officers with notable composure, bringing her one step closer to her childhood dream of joining the Indian Administrative Service.
Hands-On Governance: Redressing Longstanding Bansi Land Dispute Case
Assuming official responsibilities in the collectorate chamber, the one-day collector tackled on-the-ground administrative disputes:
Evaluating Real Citizen Petitions: Among the various applicants appearing during the public hearing, Ramnaresh Kewat from Keswar village in Bansi brought forward a protracted land conflict involving plot number 112.
Tackling Prolonged Building Stays: The applicant explained that construction of the second-story roof remained halted for two years and eight months owing to an ongoing stay order, directly impacting between 20 and 23 local families while raw building materials and unfinished walls deteriorated from exposure.
Directing Administrative Action: Assessing the documents on the spot, Shreya directed the application directly to the Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) of Bansi, ordering an expedited, lawful assessment to resolve the dispute without unnecessary procedural delays.
Academic Excellence: UP Board 6th State Ranker Sets Sights on Civil Services
Shreya’s selection for the one-day governance initiative stems from her academic achievements in Uttar Pradesh's state curriculum:
Statewide Top Ranker: Shreya secured the prestigious sixth rank across the entire state of Uttar Pradesh in the Class 10 High School Board examinations conducted by the UP Board of Secondary Education.
Schooling Background: She completed her secondary education with distinction at Raghubar Prasad Jaiswal Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College and is currently pursuing Class 11 at Buddha Vidyapeeth Inter College in Bardpur.
Aspiration for the IAS: Reaffirming her dedication to public administration, Shreya shared that her lifelong ambition is to clear the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination and serve the nation as a full-time District Magistrate.
Proud Parents Celebrate Milestone: Sanskrit Teacher Father Awaits True Civil Service Day
The special occasion brought immense pride to the local community and her family in Siddharthnagar:
Father's Inspiring Vision: Her father, Krishnanath Pandey, a respected Sanskrit teacher at Raghubar Prasad Jaiswal Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, expressed joy at witnessing his daughter in the DM's chair, remarking that his ultimate pride will be realized the day she enters the Indian Administrative Service through her own merit.
Mother's Enduring Support: Her mother, Anita Pandey, echoed heartfelt pride over the recognition, highlighting that the entire family stands behind Shreya’s rigorous academic schedule as she lays the groundwork for civil services preparations.
Mission Shakti Impact: District Magistrate Shivsharanappa GN noted that giving meritorious girls firsthand exposure to governance demystifies administrative machinery, inspiring young female students across rural Uttar Pradesh to pursue leadership roles in public service.
