UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Directorate Removes 176 B.Ed. Vacancies Due to Eligibility Disputes

The recruitment process for Assistant Professors in non-government aided colleges across Uttar Pradesh has undergone a significant revision. The Directorate of Higher Education has officially removed 176 B.Ed. positions and vacancy details of another subject from the ongoing recruitment pipeline following eligibility disputes and scrutiny by the examining body.
Revised Vacancy Requisition Submitted to Selection Commission
On August 25, the Directorate of Higher Education uploaded the updated and revised vacancy requisition directly onto the official portal of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission.
Previously, the Directorate had submitted a requisition for 2,107 posts across 44 subjects. However, upon reviewing the submission, the Commission identified discrepancies regarding B.Ed. qualifications as well as questions surrounding specialized subjects like poultry farming. Consequently, the Commission returned the initial proposal, requesting clarification and corrected vacancy breakdowns.
B.Ed. Eligibility Hurdles and Ongoing Stalls
The exclusion of B.Ed. posts stems from persistent qualification disputes and administrative hurdles. Notably, recruitment for 107 B.Ed. positions under the older Advertisement No. 51 of 2022 has remained stalled indefinitely without a written examination being conducted.
To prevent similar legal or technical delays in the upcoming recruitment cycle, the Directorate decided to excise the disputed subjects entirely from the fresh notification.

With the revised requisition covering 42 subjects now submitted to the Commission—representing over 1,900 available posts—the Selection Commission is expected to review the paperwork and soon release the official recruitment advertisement. Aspiring educators preparing for aided college professorships can look forward to the resumption of the selection process once the formal notification is published.
