Three New Smart Roads to Transform City Connectivity Under CM Grid Scheme

Post

Gorakhpur is all set for a massive infrastructural upgrade as the local administration accelerates its efforts to modernize urban mobility. Under the ambitious CM Grid Scheme, the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation has officially initiated preparations for Phase 4, focusing on the construction of three new state-of-the-art smart roads. These upcoming projects are designed to significantly streamline the city's transportation network, ease traffic congestion, and provide seamless, high-speed connectivity to key residential zones, educational institutions, and vital healthcare hubs. Demonstrating swift administrative action, the Municipal Commissioner personally conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed routes on Saturday, directing concerned officials to finalize and submit the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) without delay.

Phase 4 Expansion to Target Hospital and Educational Hubs

The newly proposed smart roads under Phase 4 are strategically planned to serve rapidly developing areas, ensuring that commuters experience safer, faster, and more comfortable daily travel. Access to major medical facilities, hospitals, and national highways will become drastically smoother, offering much-needed relief to patients, emergency ambulances, and the general public. During the rigorous inspection tour, the Municipal Commissioner emphasized uncompromising adherence to strict quality and construction standards so that execution can commence immediately upon final administrative approval. Accompanying the Commissioner were key engineering officials, including Chief Engineer Amit Sharma, along with executive and assistant engineers, ensuring a meticulous blueprint for the city's future growth.

Breakdown of the Three Proposed Smart Road Projects

The development plan encompasses three distinct routes engineered to tackle local traffic bottlenecks and enhance regional connectivity:

First Road (Rapti Nagar): Stretching from Hydel to the Medical College Road in Ward No. 80 (Rapti Nagar), this project will span 500 meters in length and 24 meters in width. It is designed to reinforce the transit corridor leading to the medical college area while offering smoother commutes for residents of neighboring colonies.

Second Road (Chargawan to GDA Smart Road): Running from Educare College in Ward No. 8 (Chargawan) to Yash Eye Clinic via the GDA Smart Road near the SBI Life Bank ATM, this 730-meter-long and 18-meter-wide stretch will seamlessly link educational institutions and residential pockets directly to the primary smart road grid.

Third Road (Gopalapur - Largest Project): Spanning a substantial length of 2,033 meters in Ward No. 19 (Gopalapur), this major route runs from Red Chili Restaurant to Amravati Tower, passing through Shahi Global Hospital, SBI ATM, Apex Hospital, and connecting directly to the National Highway. With a width ranging between 15 to 18 meters, it stands as the largest project in this phase, ensuring rapid transit for medical emergencies and highway commuters.
